Quan Fa Organic Farm

Time flies! We are at the tail-end of 2016 and school holiday is approaching soon. Have you had any plans to bond with your little ones (and/or not-so-little ones)? What about getting away from the hustle and bustle with a trip to the farm?

Insects love chemical-free, so these green they eat, there are holes.
Insects do not eat pesticides-filled green, so those green have no holes.
If insects are smart enough to eat chemical-free veg, shouldn't we, who are smarter, too?

Located at the quaint part of Singapore, Kranji Countryside, a trip to Quan Fa Organic Farm, the first certified organic farm in Singapore, will ease your mind with its beautiful Mother Nature surroundings and energise your body with its refreshing organic produce.

 The Green House

Since 1999, Quan Fa has been cultivating all sorts of organically grown vegetables and fruits. Over the years, it has grown from humble beginnings of a small organic vegetable retailer to one of the leading distributors in Singapore today. To ensure the freshness of its produce, Quan Fa ensures that all harvesting and packaging are done in the morning.

The bright-colour sticky patches on the poles of the open farm are meant to attract insects.
This is done so as to minimise the vegetables being eaten up by them.

Quan Fa Organic Farm subscribes to ecological agrarian methods of farming, abstaining from the use of pesticides and harmful fertilisers, to produce only the freshest food crops that are both nutritious and healthy.

Organic Bittergourd and Brinjal

What is unique about Quan Fa is its secret formula – the Quan Fa Compost System. This method, which Quan Fa has abided by for years, originated from a Japanese technique using unique culturing medium to eliminate obnoxious odours of raw materials (mixture of decayed vegetations). This medium subsequently produces a nutrient-rich organic debris; which deters the rate of damage caused by disease infection and insect infestation.

The compost is used throughout the farm to condition dead soil back to its arable state, which eventually enhances and stimulates plant growth. With the improvement in soil activity, Quan Fa’s vegetables need not require external substances such as synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilisers. The farm’s innovative farming techniques synchronises with the natural ecosystem, hence producing highly nutritional and healthy produce.

This was my first time eating Sunflower sprouts raw, and I totally love it.

It is sad to know that Quan Fa Organic Farm has to cease operations in 2019 as the government is claiming back the land for future developments. Before all the farms are gone in Kranji, do attempt to bring your little urban ones (and/or not-so-little ones) to this education trip.

Quan Fa Organic Farm does organise farm tours, and their tour packages can be found here.
