Create Your Own 3D Model Super Heros Workshop
Beside visiting the exhibition, we also joined this fun & interesting workshop to learn basic state-of-the-art 3D modelling concepts & see up close 3D printing in action!  If you do not already know, 3D printing is set to take the manufacturing field by storm.  My friend, who is in the 3D printing industry, says 3D printing can literally print anything, except, edible stuff of course.

3D printing is a process of making 3-dimensional object from a 3D Model (usually using 3D auto-cad software) where successive layers of material (usually plastic) are laid down using computer control.  The instructor, Jose Maya, who is a professional 3D modeller & artist, brought along a simple 3D mono colour printer that, ahem, cost thousand+ to demonstrate to us.  There are more sophisciated ones in the market as well.

The boy was learning to use the 3D auto-cad software to print his 1st ever Batman key chain

The workshop is truly an eye opener for us to see how 3D printing works.  If you are interested in the workshop, please contact Laura at 6513 7348 or email her at Laura_Tan@nhb.gov.sg
